The Carnival Queen and princesses have now been chosen
The Queen is Gemma Lindley
The Princesses are Zoe Clark and Leanne Tingey
With the planning for the 1999 carnival under way, the first task is to raise money to fund the event. To help do this our annual car boot sales take place along promenade way during the summer months, starting on Easter Monday and taking place every two weeks from 8 ‘til 1. See the Town Diary.
Carnival day this year is on 19th June and the theme is Royals across the ages, the time of the procession is 2-o-clock starting from Hurst Green, so you can still get home to watch the Royal wedding on TV. After the Wedding come and join us at the Community Centre for our Carnival Family night. Tickets are £2.00 adults and £1.00 for children and are available at Spirals and Brian House newsagents. We will be entertained by 2J’s Disco Show, and promises to be a good night out.

Two of the town's biggest events each year are its Carnival and the Firework Display, Both are organised by the Brightlingsea Carnival Association.
The Carnival is held in June and attracts many visitors to the town to watch its colourful procession and to enjoy the many related events.  Each carnival has it Carnival Queen and to Carnival Princesses chosen from local girls.
The firework display in November is usually held on the recreation Ground, regent Road . It boasts an exciting aerial display and is often accompanied by a musical theme.
The Association help to fund these events throughout the year with car boot sales held on Promenade Way.
