Meetings held
on the first Monday of each month except July and August.
These meetings are held at DLR Properties, Manor Parade, Brightlingsea
The Brightlingsea Business Association was established 14
years ago in its present form, although there was a Traders Association for
many years before then.
The Association is open for joining by any bona-fide business that operates
in the Brightlingsea area. Membership of the Business Association can be
recognised by a certificate that should be displayed in the premises of the
member businesses. Membership fees are £25 p.a. Meetings are normally held
on the first Monday of each month except July and August. These meetings are
held at DLR Properties office, Manor Parade, Brightlingsea. Normally a guest
speaker is invited i.e. Planning Officer, Health Inspector, Police, Finance
Companies, etc.
The Association has a wealth of experience between its members who are only
too willing to impart their knowledge on and help each other.
The highlight of Brightlingsea Business Association's year is organising The
Late Night Shopping Fayre, in conjunction with the Carnival Association,
which is held in the Town Centre on the first Friday of December. Everyone
is encouraged to join in. The Colne School Band play in St James Church, in
the Town centre. Over the last few years we have had the Light up a Life
service for the Colchester St. Helena Hospice at the same time. As well as
numerous charity stalls, fairground rides, etc. throughout the town centre
and hospitality from the businesses including mince pies and the occasional
glass of festive cheer, the Town of Brightlingsea takes on a Dickensian
style for the evening with everyone enjoying themselves, so if you want to
enter into the spirit of Christmas come to Brightlingsea for the evening.
The Business Association also assist with organising the Street Fayre on
Carnival Day held in June each year.
