The Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), founded in 1936, raises funds...... to promote medical research into the cause, treatment and cure of arthritic conditions...... to educate medical students, doctors and allied healthcare professionals about arthritis......to provide information to people affected by arthritis and to the general public.

More than seven million people in the UK have long-term health problems due to arthritis or a related condition. Arthritis is the second most common cause of time off work among both men and women.

There are more than 200 types of arthritis and rheumatic disease, and more than seven million people in the UK have long-term health problems due to arthritis or a related condition. Not only adults are affected - one child in every thousand has arthritis. Arthritis is the second most common cause of time off work in both men and women.

arc is the only major medical research charity in the UK investigating arthritis in all its forms. Millions of pounds are provided every year for grants funding research, education and training.

arc receives no government or statutory funding and is therefore totally dependent on voluntary donations. It raises funds from a variety of sources including the corporate sector, grant-making trusts and the National Lottery. Fundraising in the community is organised through a combination of voluntary fundraising branches, paid staff and charity shops. A valuable contribution is made by individuals who undertake sponsored events on arc's behalf, and all those who make significant donations in support of arc's work.

How Can YOU Help?

arc relies entirely on the generosity of the public and any help you can give us is always welcome.  The best way to make a regular donation is by Deed of Covenant especially if you pay the standard or higher rate of income tax.

arc can claim back from the Inland Revenue the standard rate of tax you have already paid, thus increasing the value of your gift at no extra cost to you.  Higher rate taxpayers can also claim back from the Inland Revenue the difference between the standard and higher rate tax applicable to their Deed of Covenant.

Other ways YOU can help are:

  •                          Credit Card Donations

  •                           Leaving a Legacy in your Will

  •                           Gift Aid

  •                           Payroll Giving

  •                           Branch Membership
